Hello everyone, The holiday season is a time of giving, and an opportunity to cherish those around you. That’s why we invite you to join us for our Holiday Movie Night on Thursday, November 25 at 7:30 PM. Location will be announced soon. Together, we’ll view a holiday movie (and some gripping WE.org videos), enjoy some snacks, and get into the holiday spirit. Bring your friends! At the event, we will be raising funds to support our global initiative benefitting the health pillar in Kenya. We kindly ask you to bring some change to contribute to the initiative. For communities in rural Kenya, access to health care facilities is truly a gift that keeps on giving. Take a break from studying, and join us as WE celebrate the warmth of the holiday season. See you there! MOVIE: HOME ALONE ADMISSION: FREE Date: Thursday, November 24th Time: 7:30 pm Location: TBA (stay tuned!) Hello world-changers!
We have some exciting volunteer opportunities we’d like to share with all of you. As members of WE: Free the Children, we believe in providing change in a global scale, but also in a local scale. If you’d like to volunteer for any of these causes listed below, shoot us a message or follow the guidelines on each bullet point. 1. The first is Gift Wrapping at the Fairview Mall on Sunday November 27th. You must commit to a 4 hour shift and there can only be 4 volunteers. The event is from 2:15 to 6:15pm. You can also do a shift from 10-2pm as well. This will be on a first come, first serve basis so get back to us as soon as possible so we can let the coordinators know. 2. The second volunteering opportunity is an event in the Central Eglington Community Centre. We help put together their Holiday Gift Fair and proceeds help subsidize costs of programs for kids and elderly. They really rely on this event for funding for future programs in the community so it would be awesome if you guys can make it. There are 2 days you can help out: Thursday December 1st from 4:30-7pm and Friday December 2nd from 2:00 to 4:00pm. Anyone can come to this event so invite all your friends for a good time! 3. Warm Hearts Toronto is a student-led initiative dedicated to spreading warmth and providing help to those who need it most this holiday season. The initiative will provide winter care packages, including a hat, scarves, pair of gloves, and two pairs of socks, to homeless persons in Toronto. We are all humans who go through rough patches, and we'd like to remind everyone that no one will be forgotten as the cold weather approaches. We need your help putting up posters and spreading word about the initiative. We have launched a GoFundMe page to collect donations, and hope to meet our $10,000 goal to help as many people as possible. The webpage can be found here: https://www.gofundme.com/WarmHeartsTO&rcid=2a22300ca85f11e69f38bc764e0525d6 If you are interested in helping out or would like more information, please contact Mishael Shakil Shamim at [email protected]. Thank you all again for helping to make the world a better place! Cheers, Maeryl Sumagang President |
